The second assessment round for the institutional audits has started according to the new Assessment Framework for the Higher Education Accreditation System of the Netherlands 2016 (see Frameworks/documents). There is a transitional arrangement until May 2018.
The accreditation term for an institutional audit takes up to six years. The NVAO may decide to issue a positive decision "with conditions" of up to two years.
The NVAO carries out the institutional audit within six months after the application by the institution. Upon receipt of the draft decision by the NVAO, the institution may appeal (see below).
The main documents are presented on the right side of this page.
In 2018 the official rate for an institutional audit (for approved organisations) is 36,400 euros. Small (recognized) institutions with less than four programmes pay 18,200 euros.
Different rates apply to different procedures. The cost for foreign visits or the use of external experts, advice or additional requirements are additionally invoiced.
